Home to iconic landmarks like Durham Cathedral, and over 401,000 of our customers.
With almost 5,000 kilometres of sewers beneath the ground, we operate 79 sewage treatment works and manage 92 drainage areas.
Each area of the DWMP has it’s own plan. Click below to find out more.

Environment
Our environment! A space we all share, rely on, and need to look after. As a result of a reduction in green space, population growth and climate change, we expect to see a higher risk of pollution events and increased flow into our rivers and beaches.

Flooding
An effective sewerage system must be able to handle sewage and rainwater, to reduce the risk of flooding in our homes and communities.

Pollution
A big part of delivering our services, is making sure our sewage treatment works can handle demand, without negatively impacting the receiving watercourses.
