Building over or near to a sewer

As part of your project planning it’s important to understand the drainage layout, particularly if you’re extending a building.

If there’s a public sewer within 3 metres of your proposed work, we’ll need to provide consent for you to build over or near it. This is to protect the property and sewer from possible damage and to allow easy future access to the drainage system.
