Seaton Sluice and its small rocky harbour lie at the southern end of this long strip of sand, backed by dunes that stretch north all the way to Blyth. Historically one of the oldest ports on the coast with a recorded history of exporting salt and locally made glass from the 16th century onwards.
Quality standards are set by the Bathing Water Regulations to make sure bathing waters are clean and healthy. Please note: The Coronavirus pandemic impacted EA regulatory bathing water sampling during 2020. As a result, bathing waters in England were not classified for the 2020 bathing season and therefore no official classification was published.
