Fluoride
Information about fluoride
We've had lots of questions about fluoride from our customers, so we've pulled all the information into one place.
Do we add fluoride to the water supply?
Yes, we currently add fluoride to around 40% of the water supply in the North East. Over the coming years, we'll be working to expand fluoridation to most of our water supply in the north East. This is in line with the new statutory requirement published by the government.
You can check your area to find out if the water supply where you live is fluoridated by entering your postcode. From here, download the water quality report to view the information about fluoride.
The decision on if, when and where it’s added is made by the Department of Health and Social Care in government and the Local authorities in our areas, and we act under their instructions.
